Homestead, Florida – A 43-year-old man from Homestead has been charged with a felony after attempting to abduct a teenage girl while she was walking her dog on Friday morning, according to reports from the Homestead Police Department.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on Southwest Fourth Street near Krome Avenue at around 7 a.m. The 13-year-old victim was walking her dog when she encountered Michael Luprecio in a Chevrolet Tahoe. Luprecio pulled into the girl’s driveway, opened the hood of his SUV, and appeared to be inspecting it.

As the girl passed by Luprecio to reach her front door, he suddenly lunged at her, grabbing her wrist and lower buttocks. He then forcibly tried to pull her towards his vehicle, causing the victim to scream in fear. She managed to break free and ran inside her home to call the police.

Police Investigation

The entire incident was captured on a surveillance camera from a nearby business. Authorities were able to track down Luprecio’s Tahoe to his residence on Northwest Ninth Street. After conducting a stakeout, they pulled him over for having an obscured tag on his vehicle.

During questioning, Luprecio claimed he had stopped to check a noise coming from his engine and had unintentionally startled the victim. However, he was arrested and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of attempted child kidnapping and battery.
