K. Petchidurai : “Murder Suspect Shot by Police Dies in Hospital”

Chennai, March 11 (IANS): A tragic incident unfolded in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, where a murder accused, identified as K. Petchidurai, succumbed to his injuries after being shot by police. The 23-year-old, in an inebriated state, had brutally hacked road worker C. Karuppasamy to death near Velankulli in Tirunelveli, along with his accomplice, Chandru.

The duo’s violent spree didn’t end there. They also attacked another road worker, A. Venkatesh, and caused further chaos by destroying the windshield of a car and damaging a government bus. Things took a drastic turn when they targeted police constable Shenthil while a police team was attempting to apprehend them. In response, the police had to resort to shooting Petchidurai in the leg to bring the situation under control.

Despite being rushed to Tirunelveli Medical College hospital, Petchidurai’s injury proved to be fatal, and he tragically passed away on Monday. The Veeravanallur police have wasted no time in taking legal action, registering cases against both Petchidurai and Chandru for the murder of Karuppusamy, as well as for their acts of assault and vandalism.
