Manhunt Underway for David Farren in Akron

The Akron Police Department is currently on the lookout for a 23-year-old man named David Farren. Farren is facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the tragic death of bicyclist Jimmy Fletcher in a hit-skip crash that occurred last month.

Authorities issued a warrant for Farren’s arrest on March 8, but he is not currently in custody. The police are actively searching for him. Farren is described as 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 188 pounds.

The incident took place around 4 p.m. on February 9 near the intersection of S. Arlington and Ray streets in Akron. Jimmy Fletcher was riding an electric bicycle when he was struck by a 2013 Chevy Cruze, allegedly driven by Farren. Instead of stopping to help, Farren fled the scene. Sadly, Fletcher succumbed to his injuries a few days later.

After thorough investigation, detectives were able to locate the vehicle involved in the crash in Ashtabula on March 7. The car was then towed back to Akron for further processing and gathering of evidence.

Following the tragic event, News 5 had the opportunity to speak with Fletcher’s grieving family. They shared their thoughts and emotions regarding the loss of their loved one. You can watch the interview in the video below:
