Tragic Accident at University of Connecticut Campus
A tragic incident occurred on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where a student fell from a parking garage and later succumbed to his injuries. The student, identified as Jackson Carneiro, was a resident of Milford, Mass., and had just begun his UConn journey in the fall of 2022.
Remembering Jackson Carneiro
Described as a talented Digital Media Design major focusing on 3D animation, Carneiro was known for his quick wit, beautiful smile, and passion for music production. He was an athlete, musician, and artist who had a particular talent for illustration. Carneiro was also a member of the National Honor Society and graduated from Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury in 2022.
Community Mourns the Loss
The UConn community is deeply saddened by the loss of Jackson Carneiro, and university leaders have expressed their condolences to his family and friends. The incident, which took place at around 9:30 a.m. on March 7, prompted a swift response from UConn Police and Fire Department personnel.
Investigation Continues
Although no criminal or suspicious elements have been found in the circumstances of Carneiro’s death, the Office of the State Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of his passing. UConn Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident at the South Garage on Jim Calhoun Way.
