Man Arrested in Connection with Deadly Shooting in Hartford

Police have apprehended a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Hartford just two days before Christmas in 2023. The incident took place near 115 Franklin Ave., where officers responded to a report of a person shot shortly after 8:30 p.m. on December 23, 2023. They discovered 32-year-old Christian Michael Lopez of Hartford with gunshot wounds, who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions launched an investigation into the incident and identified 35-year-old Joshua Duprey of New Britain as a suspect in the homicide. Major Crimes detectives secured an arrest warrant charging Duprey with one count of murder and criminal possession of a firearm.

Arrest Made Without Incident

On Monday, members of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Hartford Police Violent Crime Unit located Duprey in New Britain and took him into custody without any resistance. Duprey is currently being held on a $1 million bond as the investigation continues.
