Attempted Kidnapping Incident at a West Valley City School

A shocking incident unfolded at a school in West Valley City, where police arrested a man for attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old girl. The incident came to light when a concerned parent contacted the Granite School District police after discovering concerning messages exchanged between their daughter and a man.

The parent uncovered a plan for the man, later identified as Miguel Angel Vega Sedano, 21, to pick up the girl from her school. Swift action was taken by the school district police, who intercepted and detained Sedano on school property.

Upon receiving this information, West Valley police swiftly moved in and arrested Sedano. During the arrest, police found fraudulent documents in Sedano’s possession, including a fake Social Security card and a United States permanent resident card.

Sedano confessed to his intentions, admitting that he was at the school to take the girl home, despite not having permission from her parents. He claimed to have obtained the forged documents from an uncle in Arizona, rather than through official government channels.

Further evidence was found on Sedano’s phone, including an Instagram chat thread with the girl. As a result, Sedano was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of kidnapping and possession of forged writing or device.
