Esperanza Rae Harding, only 20 years old, now faces one count of second-degree murder, according to court documents filed in Hennepin County.
The Disturbing Discovery
The heartbreaking story unfolded when Harding went to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, claiming her son had passed away on March 1. However, the hospital had no record of the boy being admitted. This raised suspicions, leading to a police interview where Harding confessed that her son had actually died in a hotel in Bloomington on February 28, 2024.
A Shocking Revelation
During further questioning by Bloomington police, Harding revealed a chilling motive behind the tragic incident. She admitted to killing her child because her boyfriend, Edwin Trudeau, did not like the boy and wanted her to give him up for adoption. Trudeau has also been charged with aiding an offender in this devastating case.
The Heartbreaking Night
Details emerged of the night the child died, with Harding taking a bath in the hotel while her son cried in another room. Allegedly, she texted her boyfriend, informing him of her intentions to harm the child. After drowning the boy, she texted Trudeau again, who arrived at the hotel and attempted to resuscitate the child to no avail. He then reportedly instructed Harding to dispose of the body in the garbage, which she did. As of now, investigators have not located the child’s remains.
