Renowned “Violins of Hope” Founder Amnon Weinstein Passes Away

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amnon Weinstein, the founder of the iconic “Violins of Hope” project. Weinstein, a well-respected luthier, dedicated his life to restoring violins that belonged to Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. These instruments serve as powerful symbols of resilience and hope, carrying the stories of those who perished during one of the darkest periods in history.

In 2019, I had the privilege of participating in one of the programs associated with “Violins of Hope” and had the honor of meeting Amnon Weinstein in person. His passion for preserving these instruments and their stories was truly inspiring, and his impact on the music community will be felt for generations to come.

As a tribute to Amnon Weinstein’s legacy, I am proud to announce that I will be joining the planning committee to bring the “Violins of Hope” project to the Twin Cities in 2025. It is my hope that through this exhibition, we can continue to honor the memory of those who were lost during the Holocaust and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.

At the time of this reporting, the cause of Amnon Weinstein’s death remains unknown. His passing is a great loss to the music world, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Amnon Weinstein’s dedication to preserving history through music has left an indelible mark on all who have had the privilege of experiencing the “Violins of Hope” project. His legacy will continue to inspire and educate future generations about the importance of remembering the past and striving for a more peaceful future.
