Tragic Accident Claims Life in Lakshmipur
On a fateful Sunday morning in Lakshmipur, a heart-wrenching incident unfolded on Moju Chowdhury’s Hat road. A speeding dump-truck collided head-on with a sand-laden pickup, resulting in a fatal outcome. The collision claimed the life of Abdur Rahim, a 25-year-old day labourer, while leaving two others, Md Rubel and Md Shahor, injured.
According to an eyewitness present at the scene, the pickup carrying sand from Moju Chowdhury Hat crashed into the dump truck, causing devastation in its wake. The locals quickly sprang into action, rescuing the victims and rushing them to Lakhmipur District Sadar Hospital for treatment.
While Rubel and Shahor received medical attention at the hospital and were later transferred to Dhaka for further care, Abdur Rahim tragically succumbed to his injuries. His lifeless body now rests in the mortuary of the District Headquarters Hospital, serving as a grim reminder of the dangers that lurk on the roads.
Sadar hospital’s duty doctor, MA Salam Sourov, shed light on the situation, stating, “Two injured individuals were brought to the hospital and promptly received necessary treatment before being sent to Dhaka for additional medical assistance.”
Police authorities wasted no time in responding to the incident, with Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saifuddin Anwar affirming, “Legal action will be taken in this regard to ensure justice prevails and accountability is upheld.”
