Elderly woman tragically dies in Noakhali house fire
NOAKHALI, March 9, 2024 (BSS) – A devastating fire claimed the life of an elderly woman in the early hours of today in Hatiya upazila, Noakhali. The victim, identified as Lalita Bala Das, 80, was the wife of late Gopal Das and resided in the Kalimandir area of Ward No-3 under Hatia Municipality.
The fire erupted at Lalita’s residence around 5:25 am while she was asleep, leading to her tragic demise. According to the Hatia fire service station firefighter Mehdi Hasan Bhuiyan, the blaze quickly engulfed the house, leaving Lalita with no chance of escape.
Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters promptly rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, managed to extinguish the flames after an hour of relentless efforts. Tragically, Lalita Bala’s lifeless body was discovered amidst the charred remains of her home.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, as investigations into the incident are ongoing. The tight-knit community of Hatiya upazila is left in shock and mourning following this heartbreaking tragedy.
