Three Men Charged in Connection with November 2023 Shooting Homicide in Trenton

On March 8, 2024, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri announced that three individuals have been charged in connection with the November 2023 shooting homicide of Leroy Tutt in Trenton, New Jersey.

The investigation, led by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department, resulted in charges being filed against Jerrod Baldwin, 41, and Kellen Dingman, 41, both from Ewing, as well as Eric Bell, 44, from Trenton.

Details of the Incident

On the morning of Friday, November 24, 2023, Trenton police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the first block of Oliver Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Leroy Tutt, 37, lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso next to a burgundy Chrysler Sebring with an open trunk. Shell casings were found inside the vehicle. Tutt was pronounced dead after being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Charges and Arrests

Jerrod Baldwin and Kellen Dingman are each facing charges of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder. Eric Bell has been charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit murder and third-degree hindering apprehension.

All three men were apprehended earlier in the week at various locations in New Jersey by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Mercer County Tactical Response Team. They are currently being held at the Mercer County Correction Center pending detention hearings.
