Subsequent investigations involved obtaining a search warrant for Walker’s apartment and vehicle, as well as collecting potential DNA evidence for analysis. A thorough examination of Walker’s girlfriend’s phone revealed incriminating evidence linking him to the shooting.
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Walker was apprehended in Waterloo and brought back to Cedar Rapids to face charges related to the violent incident.
