Arrest Made in Lockport Shooting

LOCKPORT, Ill. – An arrest has been made in a February shooting incident that resulted in the death of one man and left another paralyzed in Lockport, Illinois.

Jaron Nabors Jr., 24, was taken into custody on Friday on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery.

The Tragic Incident

The shooting took place on February 8 in the 200 block of Riverview Avenue in unincorporated Lockport Township. Two men, aged 55 and 52, were found at the scene with gunshot wounds.

James Berry, the 52-year-old man, tragically succumbed to his injuries, while the 55-year-old man was left paralyzed from the waist down and is currently recovering in a medical facility in Chicago.

Investigation and Arrest

After speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence, investigators identified Jaron Nabors Jr. as the suspect in the shooting. Nabors was initially a person of interest and was wanted on an unrelated warrant.

Deputies located Nabors on March 6 and attempted to approach him, leading to his arrest. During the arrest, a 9mm handgun was found in Nabors’ possession, which was later determined to be the weapon used in the fatal shooting.

Legal Proceedings

Currently, Jaron Nabors Jr. is being held in the Will County Jail as he awaits his initial court appearance.

The arrest of Nabors brings some closure to the community of Lockport, as they seek justice for the victims of this senseless act of violence.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward and assist in bringing the responsible parties to justice.
