Investigation Launched into Fatal Shooting in East Greenville

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and East Greenville Borough Police Chief Randy Morris have announced an investigation into a tragic shooting death that occurred at a residence in the 200 block of Jefferson Street in East Greenville.

Victim Identified as Derek Sherer

The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Derek Sherer, who resided at the same address where the incident took place.

Domestic Dispute Leads to Tragic Outcome

At 8:11 a.m. on Friday, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute at the residence. Upon arrival, troopers discovered Sherer deceased from a gunshot wound in front of the house.

Joint Homicide Investigation Launched

East Greenville Borough Police and Montgomery County Detectives, along with assistance from the Pennsylvania State Police, have initiated a joint homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sherer’s death.

Cooperation from Shooter

The shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement officials as they work to gather more information about what transpired.
