Two Men Shot, One Fatally, in Southwest Side of Chicago

On Thursday evening, a tragic incident unfolded on the Southwest Side of Chicago, leaving two men injured, one fatally. The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Archer Avenue, located in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

Details of the Shooting

According to Chicago police, the two victims were driving along Archer Avenue when a man inside a tan-colored SUV opened fire on them. The victims’ vehicle crashed after the shooting, resulting in a 31-year-old man being shot multiple times and a 43-year-old man sustaining gunshot wounds to his face and chest. Both victims were rushed to local hospitals in critical condition.

Escape of the Offenders

Following the shooting, the offenders fled the scene in their SUV, leaving behind a trail of chaos and confusion. Despite efforts by law enforcement, no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing.

Regrettably, the 31-year-old victim, identified as David Villarreal-Zapata by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. This loss has left a deep void in the hearts of his loved ones and the community.
