Tragic Accident in Calvin Township Claims Life of Indiana Man

A devastating accident occurred in Calvin Township, Michigan, on Thursday evening, resulting in the loss of a life. The incident took place before 7 p.m. near the intersection of Bullhead Street and Cassopolis Road, as reported by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The collision involved two vehicles, with one of them driven by an Indiana woman traveling north on Cassopolis Road. Tragically, her car struck a deer, causing the animal to crash through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 67-year-old Daniel Haskett from Elkhart, Indiana, was fatally injured in the accident. In contrast, the Indiana woman emerged from the crash unscathed. It has been confirmed that alcohol was not a contributing factor in the collision.

The CCSO has extended its gratitude to the emergency medical services (EMS), Michigan State Police, the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department, and the Porter Township Fire Department for their swift response and assistance at the scene of the tragic incident.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Daniel Haskett during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
