The Tragic Plane Crash in Nashville, UK

Victor Dotsenko, his wife, Rimma, and their three children were on their way to Florida for a much-awaited vacation when tragedy struck. The small airplane they were travelling in suddenly lost power and crashed, claiming the lives of all five passengers.

The Victims

The Dotsenko family, hailing from King City, Ont., have been identified as the victims of the fatal crash that occurred on Monday evening near downtown Nashville, Tenn. The news has left their community in shock and disbelief.

Community Mourning

Arthur Rubino, the general manager of homebuilder Regal Crest Homes in Vaughan, Ont., where Rimma Dotsenko worked as a decor consultant for seven years, expressed the profound loss felt by everyone at the company. He described Rimma as someone who brought joy to everyone she met, always wearing a smile.

Tragic Loss

All three children – 12-year-old David, 10-year-old Adam, and seven-year-old Emma – were students at UMCA Rich Tree Academy, a private school in Vaughan. The school community is deeply saddened by the loss, with the school offering counselling services to students and extending condolences to the extended family and community.

The Family Background

Mr. Dotsenko, aged 43, and Ms. Dotsenko, aged 39, had purchased their luxury four-bedroom home in King City in 2017. The couple owned the single-engine Piper PA-32 plane since July 2023, through a numbered company, according to registration records.

The Tragic Flight

Mr. Dotsenko was the owner and CEO of general contracting companies Pearl Homes and Aeroseal Technology. He obtained his private pilot’s license in 2022 after training at the Brampton Flying Club. The couple’s plane departed from Milton, Ont., and made at least two stops before crashing near John C. Tune Airport in West Nashville.

Final Moments

As the family approached the Nashville airport, the pilot radioed air-traffic controllers about a catastrophic engine power loss. Despite efforts to glide the plane down, the pilot expressed being too far away to make it. The plane dropped off the radar and crashed on a grassy median near Interstate 40.

Investigation Ongoing

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash and expects to complete a preliminary report within 30 days. A final report detailing the probable cause of the crash is anticipated within 12 to 24 months.

Community Support

King Township Mayor Steve Pellegrini extended his deepest condolences to the families and friends of the Dotsenko family, acknowledging the heartbreaking loss for the tight-knit community.
