The Tragic Plane Crash in Nashville West

Metro Nashville Police have identified the victims of a devastating plane crash that occurred near Interstate 40 and the Nashville West shopping center. The five Canadian citizens who lost their lives in the accident have been named as Victor Dotsenko, 43, his wife, Rimma, 39, and their three children, David, 12, Adam, 10, and Emma, 7.

The Fatal Crash

The family was aboard a Piper PA-32RT-300T single-engine plane that crashed in a grassy area near mile marker 202 on Interstate 40 in West Nashville. The incident took place just before 7:45 p.m. on a Monday evening, narrowly missing motorists and nearby buildings.

Investigation and Flight Details

According to National Transportation Safety Board aviation accident investigator Aaron McCarter, the wreckage of the plane has been taken to AMF Aviation in Springfield, Tenn. for further investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The flight had departed from Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and was scheduled to land at John C. Tune Airport.

McCarter mentioned that the plane flew over the airport at 2,500 feet but did not land as expected. Shortly after, the pilot reported a loss of engine power and attempted to reach the nearest runway. Unfortunately, the pilot was unable to make it, leading to the tragic crash.

Witness Accounts and Ongoing Investigation

McCarter stated that any witnesses to the crash can provide information by contacting witness@ntsb.gov. A preliminary report is expected to be available within 10 days, with a full report to follow in the next nine to 12 months. The investigation will focus on determining the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.

As the community mourns the loss of the Dotsenko family and grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event, authorities are working diligently to uncover the details surrounding the plane crash in Nashville West.
