The accused, identified as Sonu Pandram, a 19-year-old relative of the victim, committed the heinous crime in the Junnardev police station area. According to police reports, Sonu had arrived at his aunt’s place in Junnardev just two days prior to the incident.

Tragically, while the girl’s mother was busy in the fields harvesting sugarcane, Sonu took advantage of the situation and raped the young girl. When she resisted, he brutally axed and strangled her to death. In a desperate attempt to cover up his crime, Sonu buried the girl’s body in a pile of wood near the house and fled the scene.

The victim’s family grew worried when they could not locate their daughter and filed a missing complaint with the police. As the search for the missing girl intensified, suspicions fell on Sonu, who was hiding from the authorities. Under interrogation, Sonu initially denied any involvement in the crime but later confessed and led the police to the burial site.

The accused has been charged with rape and murder under various sections of the law. Reports suggest that Sonu had a history of not contributing to household work, leading the family to send him away. Prior to the incident, he had worked as a laborer in Tamil Nadu alongside some friends.
