As the search for the missing girl intensified, suspicions fell on Sonu, who was hiding from the authorities. Under interrogation, Sonu initially denied any involvement in the crime but later confessed and led the police to the burial site.
The accused has been charged with rape and murder under various sections of the law. Reports suggest that Sonu had a history of not contributing to household work, leading the family to send him away. Prior to the incident, he had worked as a laborer in Tamil Nadu alongside some friends.
