Wild Dashcam Video Captures Florida Truck Driver Shootout on I-75 in Marion County
MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A shocking road rage incident unfolded on Interstate 75 in Marion County, Florida, as a semi-truck driver allegedly fired shots at another truck driver following a heated dispute over a thrown water bottle. The dramatic incident, captured on dashcam video, left one man in jail and caused significant damage to the victim’s truck.
Details of the Incident
The altercation began on a fateful Sunday on southbound I-75 in Ocala when 43-year-old Dylan Belleastin reportedly threw a water bottle at another semi-truck driver, sparking a dangerous chain of events. The victim initially intended to confront Belleastin about the incident but decided against it and continued driving down the highway.
However, Belleastin allegedly pursued the victim, pulling up behind and then alongside the truck before brandishing a black handgun and firing multiple shots at the vehicle. The gunfire caused nearly $5,000 in damage to the victim’s truck, according to the arrest report.
Escalation of Violence
In a terrifying turn of events, the victim retaliated by slamming on the brakes, retrieving his own gun, and firing five shots at Belleastin’s truck out of fear for his safety. Belleastin then accelerated, pulled alongside the victim once more, and allegedly discharged another round of gunfire, escalating the confrontation.
Following the harrowing incident, the victim pulled over at a Love’s Travel Stop in Ocala and contacted law enforcement. Belleastin also stopped briefly at the same location but fled the scene and continued southbound on I-75.
Arrest and Charges
Several days later, deputies apprehended Belleastin in Ocala, leading to his arrest on multiple charges, including deadly missile, possession of a firearm during a felony, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and felony criminal mischief. As of the latest update, he remains in custody on bond.
