Accident – Death – Obituary News :

HOUSTON – Authorities have identified the suspect accused of fatally shooting 12-year-old Carlos Fernandez inside his family’s apartment in east Harris County. The suspect, 27-year-old Terry Bryan Rivera, has been charged with Capital Murder and is currently on the run.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the tragic incident took place in Cloverleaf, where the shooter approached Carlos’ bedroom window and opened fire while he was asleep, resulting in his untimely death. Thankfully, Carlos’ mother, two younger sisters, and another man who were also present in the apartment were unharmed.

Sheriff Gonzalez revealed that Rivera had been in a previous relationship with Carlos’ mother and shared two children with her. Investigators have recovered the grey pickup truck believed to have been used by Rivera during the shooting.

Rivera’s criminal history includes pleading guilty to terroristic threat earlier this year, following an altercation where he hit someone with his car after being fired from a renovation job. Additionally, court records show that Rivera spent eight months in jail a decade ago for assaulting a family member.

Sheriff Gonzalez has issued a warning that Rivera should be considered armed and dangerous, urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the HCSO Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.

The family plans to hold a funeral for Carlos on March 11 as they mourn the loss of their beloved family member.
