Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Details of the Incident in Gillespie County

It was a quiet evening on Monday, March 4, 2024, when a Gillespie County deputy on patrol noticed a truck-tractor and trailer behaving erratically on South US Highway 87. The deputy’s attention was drawn to the vehicle as it swerved off the roadway and then back into the left lane, causing two other vehicles to swerve to avoid a potential collision.

Discovery of the Driver

Upon closer inspection, the deputy decided to pull over the truck-tractor and trailer near the intersection of South US Highway 87 and Breezy Hills Drive. As the deputy approached the vehicle, it was revealed that the driver behind the wheel was a 17-year-old named Yader Omar Albarenga-Figueroa, hailing from Del Valle, TX. Shockingly, Albarenga-Figueroa did not possess a valid driver’s license.

Confession of Inexperience

During the subsequent conversation with the deputy, Albarenga-Figueroa confessed that it was his first time ever driving an 18-wheeler. He revealed that he was on his way to San Antonio, transporting several crushed cars in the trailer. This admission of inexperience, coupled with the reckless driving behaviour witnessed by the deputy, led to Albarenga-Figueroa being placed under arrest for driving without a valid license.

Towing of the Vehicle

Following the arrest, the 18-wheeler was towed away by a local wrecker for further handling. The incident served as a stark reminder of the importance of possessing a valid driver’s license and the dangers of inexperienced drivers taking on the responsibility of operating large vehicles on public roads.
