The Tragic Accident in Botetourt County, Virginia
BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are currently investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality. The incident took place on Tuesday, (Mar 5) at 9:09 p.m. on Interstate 81 northbound at the 173.8 mile-marker, one and six tenths of a mile south of High Bridge Church Road in Botetourt County.
The Scene of the Accident
The accident occurred on a stretch of Interstate 81 in Botetourt County, Virginia, a picturesque area known for its rolling hills and scenic landscapes. The location of the crash, near High Bridge Church Road, is a popular route for commuters and travellers passing through the region.
The Vehicle Involved
A 2023 Freightliner tractor trailer was travelling north on Route 220 when it tragically veered off the left side of the roadway and overturned. The driver, Warner Scott Baker, 51, of Pearisburg, Va, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
