Alleged Lows Gang Member Indicted in Deadly Rivalry Shootings

An alleged member of the Lows gang has been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with a deadly rivalry that led to a series of shootings in different Minneapolis neighbourhoods, resulting in the deaths of three individuals on a single evening in late 2023.

Arrest and Charges

Ramone Dizahn Jackson, the accused individual, was arrested by federal agents about a week after the shootings that took place on December 3 at a tobacco shop in Dinkytown and in a parking lot in Uptown. These incidents claimed the lives of three people, identified as fellow Lows gang members by federal authorities.

Jackson, who has been in federal custody at Sherburne County Jail since his arrest, now faces charges related to fentanyl distribution, firearm use during drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and possession of a machine gun.

Background and Investigation

The arrest of Jackson is part of an ongoing federal investigation into Minneapolis street gangs, particularly the Lows and their rival gang, the Highs. The deadly rivalry between these two groups often leads to retaliatory shootings and killings.

Jackson was present during the shooting of a fellow Lows member in Uptown, where video footage captured him discharging a firearm. The deceased individual was identified as Ty-Shawn Maurice Lyons, 20, of Rochester.

Additionally, two other Lows gang members, Bryson Lamarr Haskell and Jamartre Michael Sanders, were shot dead in a brawl at a tobacco shop in Dinkytown. Maleek Jabril Conley, another Minneapolis man, has been extradited to face murder charges in connection with this incident.

Multiple Incidents

Jackson was also involved in a shooting incident in St. Paul in November 2023, where officers recovered nearly 40 casings of two different caliber guns. He was later implicated in a shootout in Brooklyn Park, involving around 50 rounds and automatic weapons.

Informants revealed that Jackson regularly armed himself with firearms, including a machine gun conversion device. He was also found in possession of a significant amount of cash, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia during a search of his home.

Legal Consequences

With three prior convictions in 2021 that prohibit him from possessing firearms, Jackson now faces a slew of new charges related to drug trafficking and illegal firearm use. The indictment includes multiple fentanyl distribution charges and possession of a Glock Model 19 9mm semiautomatic pistol.

As investigations continue and legal proceedings unfold, the impact of gang rivalries and violence on communities in Minneapolis remains a pressing concern for law enforcement authorities.
