Human Remains Identified in St. Clair County, Alabama

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office has made a significant breakthrough in a missing person case that has haunted the community for two years. The remains of Kyla Elaine Bobo, who went missing in February 2022, have been positively identified.

In November 2023, skeletal remains were discovered in a wooded area near Pell City in St. Clair County. Following extensive DNA testing by the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, the remains were confirmed to be those of Kyla Elaine Bobo.

The authorities have identified Maxwell Allen St. John as a suspect in this case. St. John, who was already serving an 11-year sentence for rape, has been arrested and extradited from Bullock Correctional Facility. He now faces charges of felony murder and abuse of a corpse in connection with Kyla Bobo’s disappearance.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Anna Stewart, Kyla Bobo’s sister, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the search for her sister. Despite the long and painful journey, the family never gave up hope of finding Kyla.

“We had two years to think about it and grieve, and even though we didn’t have any concrete evidence, we knew in our hearts what had happened. We are at peace now, knowing that Kyla has been found, and she will always be in our hearts,” said Anna.

Gratitude and Closure

The family is grateful for the closure that this discovery brings, but the pain of losing Kyla will always remain. They are thankful for the outpouring of support from the community and vow to keep Kyla’s memory alive.

As the investigation continues, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is committed to seeking justice for Kyla Bobo and ensuring that those responsible for her disappearance are held accountable.
