A devastating crash near Gretna on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the loss of a Lincoln man’s life. The incident, which occurred on Interstate 80, has left the community in mourning.

Details of the Accident

According to reports from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, 64-year-old Gary Vaughn was driving west in a Ram pickup when the accident occurred. Vaughn tragically crossed the median and collided with an eastbound Ram, resulting in the fatal outcome.

Following the crash, eastbound I-80 was temporarily shut down between Gretna and west Omaha to allow for the clearance of the accident site. A Nebraska Department of Transportation camera at the Gretna interchange captured the standstill traffic at 3:15 p.m., indicating the severity of the situation.
