Four Arrested for Alleged Murder of Nursing Student in Karnataka
Four individuals have been apprehended by authorities for the brutal killing of a 20-year-old nursing student in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district. The victim, identified as Abhishek, tragically lost his life due to a violent attack, reportedly stemming from his intercaste relationship with a 16-year-old Scheduled Caste girl.
The harrowing incident took place at the girl’s family residence, where Abhishek, a member of the Maratha Kshatriya community, was viciously assaulted by her relatives using clubs and iron rods. Despite the couple’s relationship facing opposition from the girl’s family, they continued to communicate through mobile phones over the course of three years.
Abhishek, a resident of Kalaburagi, succumbed to severe head injuries and blood loss at the Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) hospital. The police have sprung into action, registering a case at Kalaburagi University station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including attempt to murder, murder, unlawful assembly, and common intent by unlawful assembly.
Following the completion of the investigation, all four accused individuals have been placed in judicial custody. The young man’s body has been handed over to his grieving family for final rites.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the grave consequences of intercaste relationships in certain conservative societies. It serves as a grim reminder of the deep-rooted prejudices and violence that continue to plague our society.
