Tragic Road Accident Claims One Life in Ihiala, Nigeria
Tragedy struck on Tuesday along the Owerri-Ihiala Expressway in Ihiala, Nigeria, as one person lost their life and several others sustained injuries in a devastating road accident. The incident took place near the Ihiala Local Government Area secretariat, sending shockwaves through the community.
The accident, which occurred around noon, involved two vehicles owned by God is Good Logistics and a driver of a Nissan Caravan commercial bus. Eyewitnesses revealed that the driver of the Ford vehicle was speeding when one of its front tyres suddenly came off, causing him to lose control and collide with the Nissan in front of him.
Eleven individuals were involved in the crash, with seven male adults and four female adults affected. Tragically, one male adult lost his life, while four male adults and four female adults suffered injuries. Luckily, two individuals were rescued unhurt from the wreckage.
Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer of the state Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the details of the accident, attributing the cause to speed and loss of control. She identified the drivers involved as Francis Basil and Orjiwuru Augustine, highlighting the fatal consequences of their actions.
The road traffic crash occurred just two poles before the Ihiala LGA Secretariat, leaving a somber atmosphere in its wake. The community mourns the loss of life and prays for the swift recovery of those injured in the harrowing incident.
