A man was taken into custody on Saturday and has been charged in connection with the shooting death of another man in Portland. Abdirahman Mahmoud, aged 36, has been accused of the murder of 30-year-old Raoul Mapendo Tshiyuka.
Incident Details
The incident took place early on Saturday when police received reports of an injured man in the vicinity of 263 Saint John Street. Upon arrival, authorities found the victim who was later identified as Tshiyuka. He was rushed to Maine Medical Center but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Suspect Apprehended
After Mahmoud was identified as a person of interest in the case, he reached out to the authorities and disclosed his location at 224 Ocean Avenue. Law enforcement officers promptly apprehended him without any resistance. Mahmoud is currently being held without bail at Cumberland County Jail.
