Teen Suspect Identified in Waterbury Murder Case

In a recent development, police in Waterbury, Conn., have identified a third suspect in connection to the tragic killing of an 18-year-old man back in November. The suspect, Terron McCray, aged 16 and hailing from Hartford, has been arrested and is being charged as an adult in the case.

Series of Arrests in Murder Investigation

McCray is the third individual to be arrested in relation to the murder of Joseph Zavala, who was fatally shot in Waterbury. The first suspect, Duane Mercer, aged 20 and from Waterbury, was apprehended on Nov. 24, followed by Nigel Robinson, aged 19 and also from Waterbury, who was arrested on Dec. 13.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on Nov. 18, when a gunshot victim, later identified as Zavala, was brought to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury at 7:31 p.m. Sadly, Zavala succumbed to his injuries on Nov. 20.

Charges Against McCray

Terron McCray now faces a total of eight charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a firearm.

McCray appeared in court on Monday and is currently being held on a three-million-dollar bond.
