Tragic House Fire Claims Three Lives in Rolla, Missouri

In a devastating turn of events, a fatal house fire occurred in Rolla, Missouri, claiming the lives of three individuals over the weekend. The Phelps County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims as Jessica Sager, 35, and her two children, Caydence and Savannah, ages 14 and 9.

Details of the Incident

The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at a residence in the 10000 block of County Road 2120 in Rolla. Upon receiving the distress call, several area fire departments rushed to the scene. An off-duty Phelps County sheriff’s deputy, who happened to live nearby, was the first to arrive. He found a small boy outside the burning home and safely removed him from harm’s way, staying with him until paramedics arrived.

Authorities suspected that more individuals were trapped inside the engulfed home. The Rolla Rural Fire Protection District attempted to enter the residence but were forced to evacuate less than 30 seconds later due to structural hazards that posed a risk of trapping the firefighters inside.

Additional fire departments arrived to assist in extinguishing the blaze. Tragically, the bodies of Jessica Sager and her two children were discovered inside the home.

Cause of the Fire

The Missouri State Fire Marshal has yet to determine the exact cause of the fire due to the extensive damage caused by the flames. However, at this time, there is no suspicion of criminal activity being involved in the incident.

This heartbreaking event has left the community of Rolla in mourning as they come to terms with the loss of three precious lives. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
