The Tragic Road Accident Along Owerri-Ihiala Expressway
A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday along the bustling Owerri-Ihiala Expressway, near the Ihiala Local Government Area secretariat. Reports indicate that an unidentified individual lost their life in a fatal road accident that shook the community.
The Details of the Accident
Witnesses at the scene recounted that the collision involved two vehicles, one belonging to God is Good Logistics and the other being a Nissan Caravan commercial bus. The driver of the Ford vehicle was said to be speeding when one of the front tires malfunctioned, causing him to lose control and crash into the Nissan bus in front.
The Aftermath of the Crash
A total of 11 people were involved in the accident, with seven male adults and four female adults caught in the chaos. Tragically, one male adult lost his life, while four males and four females sustained injuries. Fortunately, two individuals escaped unharmed from the wreckage.

Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer of the state’s Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the details of the accident. She highlighted speed and loss of control as the likely causes of the fatal crash that claimed one life and left several others injured.
Rescue and Recovery Efforts
The FRSC rescue team swiftly responded to the scene, transporting the victims to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Ihiala. Tragically, one male adult was pronounced dead at the hospital, with his body taken to the mortuary for further procedures. The crashed vehicles were towed to the local police station to clear the obstruction and restore normalcy to the area.
Message of Caution from Authorities
Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi of Anambra State extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased victim and wished a speedy recovery to the injured individuals. He issued a stern warning to motorists, urging them to adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future. The emphasis was placed on driving safely to protect one’s life and the lives of others on the road.
