Man to Stand Trial for Aggravated Vehicular Homicide in Clark County

A trial date has been set for a man charged with aggravated vehicular homicide following a tragic crash involving a school bus in Clark County, Ohio. The incident occurred last year along State Route 41, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to 23 others.

Details of the Incident

On a fateful August morning, at around 8:16 a.m., a school bus from Northwestern Local Schools was en route to an elementary school with 52 children on board. Suddenly, a Honda Odyssey travelling eastward veered into the westbound lane, causing a collision with the school bus. The bus swerved onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid the car, but the impact caused it to overturn. Tragically, 11-year-old Aiden Clark was ejected from the bus and lost his life at the scene.

The Aftermath

As a result of the crash, the driver of the school bus sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization. On the other hand, the driver of the Honda, identified as Hermanio Joseph, a 35-year-old individual from Springfield, now faces serious charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter.

Legal Proceedings

It has come to light that Joseph, originally registered as a Haitian in Florida, had been residing in Clark County for approximately one year prior to the tragic incident. A trial date has been scheduled for April 29, where the court will delve into the details surrounding the crash and determine the appropriate course of action.
