The Tragic Incident at Thome Area, Kasarani, Nairobi
A 33-year-old man is currently in police custody after being found with stab wounds in a room where a 20-year-old woman had been before she fell to her death in Thome area, Kasarani, Nairobi.
The body of Joan Mbula, 20, was discovered on the ground floor of an apartment she had spent the previous night in. She was found half naked, wearing only a red tshirt, after falling from the tenth floor of the White House apartments.
The circumstances surrounding Mbula’s death are unclear, with police investigating if she was pushed out of the room, was running away, or died by suicide.
The Investigation Unfolds
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered that the room Mbula had been in was locked. After contacting the owner of the room, they gained access and found an unconscious man, identified as Lawrence Gitonga, with multiple stab wounds.
Gitonga was rushed to the hospital for treatment, as he claimed that Mbula had stabbed him. The room showed signs of a struggle, and neighbours reported hearing the woman shouting for help before her tragic fall.
Forensic Evidence and CCTV Footage
DCI officers spent the morning combing through evidence, collecting forensic evidence, and securing CCTV footage from the apartment building. Pictures from the scene showed bloody bedsheets and blood splattered on the bathroom walls and floor.
Police have established that Mbula and Gitonga had met at an entertainment joint in Roysambu before checking into the short-stay apartment on the 10th floor. As the investigation continues, authorities are waiting for Gitonga to stabilize so he can provide his account of the events leading to Mbula’s death.
The Ongoing Investigation
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei stated that Gitonga is currently the main suspect in the investigation. The police are determined to unravel the events of the 3 am incident that took place in one of the many units of the White House apartments.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are focused on gathering more information and evidence to determine the sequence of events that led to the tragic death of Joan Mbula.
