Tragic Motorcycle Collision Claims One Life in Padawan

PADAWAN: In a tragic turn of events, a fatal collision between two motorcycles along Jalan Puncak Borneo has left one rider dead and another severely injured last night (Mar 3).

The incident took place in Padawan, a serene district located in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. Known for its lush greenery and picturesque landscapes, Padawan is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

Details of the Accident

Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed that the collision, involving a Suzuki Rider and a Yamaha Lagenda, occurred around 8.45 pm amidst the tranquil surroundings of Jalan Puncak Borneo.

According to reports, the collision occurred as both motorcycles were travelling in opposite directions. An unknown vehicle attempted to overtake one of the motorcycles, causing the other to swerve into the opposite lane, resulting in a tragic collision.

Victims and Injuries

Tragically, the Suzuki rider identified as Dayron Clip, aged 20, lost his life at the scene of the accident. His body was later taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a postmortem examination.

Meanwhile, the Yamaha rider, an 18-year-old boy, suffered a broken right arm in the collision. The pillion rider on the Suzuki, a 19-year-old boy, sustained minor injuries to his hands and legs. Both injured victims were swiftly transported to Serian Hospital for further medical treatment.

Investigation and Legal Action

The authorities have initiated an investigation into the accident under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while travelling on the roads of Padawan.
