Tragic Road Accident Claims Lives in Wanaparthy, Telangana
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Wanaparthy district in Telangana witnessed a tragic road accident that took the lives of five individuals, including three children. The incident occurred on Monday morning on the Kothakota area national highway in Wanaparthy, as a speeding car veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The car was en route from Hyderabad to Ballari in Karnataka when the accident happened.
Rescue Operation and Casualties
Upon receiving the distressing news, local police swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate a rescue operation. The injured victims were promptly transported to the nearest hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were taken into police custody. The victims have been identified as Abdul Rahman (62), Salima Ji (85), children Wasir Rawut (7 months), Busra (2), and Maria (5).
Medical professionals have reported that the condition of the injured, including Samira (5), Hussain (10), Shafi, Qadirunnisa, Habib, Ali, and Shahjahan Baig, is critical. Ali is currently receiving treatment at Wanaparthy Hospital, while the others have been transferred to Kurnool for specialized care.
Preliminary Investigation and Overloading
Police have disclosed that the car was carrying a total of 12 passengers at the time of the accident, indicating severe overloading. Initial investigations suggest that the driver was operating the vehicle while under the influence of sleep, leading to the tragic collision with the tree.
The impact of the crash was so severe that the front of the car was completely crushed upon impact with the tree. It took the combined efforts of police and L&T staff over an hour to extricate the bodies of the trapped children from the vehicle. The victims hailed from Ballari district in Karnataka and had traveled to Hyderabad for a marriage proposal.
