Tragic Loss in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles

Loved ones in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, are grieving the loss of two cousins and a family friend who tragically lost their lives in a fiery crash. The incident occurred on the Calzona Street onramp to the northbound 5 Freeway, leaving the community in shock and sadness.

Victims of the Crash

The two cousins, 29-year-old Yesenia Rodriguez-Cruz and 19-year-old Heidi Lopez-Cruz, were both mothers who left behind young children. Yesenia was a mother of two, aged 7 and 10, while Heidi had a 2-year-old. The third victim, identified as 19-year-old Eden Jimenez Sanchez, was a close family friend.

Community Support

Following the devastating crash, GoFundMe accounts have been set up to assist the families with funeral expenses. The community has come together to show support and solidarity during this difficult time.

Perla Rodriguez-Cruz, sister of Yesenia and cousin of Heidi, recalls the loving and kind nature of her family members. Planning the funerals for all three victims, Perla finds it hard to come to terms with the loss of her loved ones.

Final Resting Place

The family plans to send the bodies of the victims back to Hidalgo, Mexico, for burial, honouring their memory and heritage.
