Tragic Accident Claims Life of Woman Cyclist in Safdarjung Enclave
A devastating incident unfolded near Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital as a woman cyclist, identified as Pretty Gupta, lost her life after being hit by a pickup vehicle. The 45-year-old resident of Sector 78, Noida, was part of a cycling group from the area.
Details of the Incident
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Rohit Meena reported that a PCR call alerted authorities to a fatal accident in the Safdarjung Enclave area. When they arrived at the scene, they found Gupta lying on the road, the victim of a hit-and-run involving a Mahindra Camper.
Sequence of Events
Gupta had been cycling with her group from Noida to Dhaula Kuan when tragedy struck near Safdarjung Hospital. The pickup vehicle collided with her from behind, resulting in her untimely demise. Despite efforts to save her, Gupta was pronounced dead upon arrival at Safdarjung Hospital.
Arrest of the Driver
The driver of the offending vehicle, identified as Sanjeev Pathak, a 24-year-old resident of Faridabad, attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by the police. Pathak now faces charges related to the fatal accident that claimed Pretty Gupta’s life.
