A confrontation ensued, culminating in an officer discharging their weapon and fatally injuring him. Tragic Incident Involving Kassandra Gartner in Edmonton

Kassandra Gartner, a 45-year-old woman and mother of three daughters, met a tragic end in Edmonton on February 25. During a police pursuit of a suspect vehicle, Ms. Gartner was struck and killed after running over a police spike belt and exiting her vehicle to inspect the damage. The chain of events that led to her death underscore the dangers inherent in high-speed police chases and the devastating impact they can have on innocent bystanders.

Investigation into Burnaby RCMP Arrest

On February 28, a man in medical distress tragically lost his life following an arrest by the Burnaby RCMP. Responding to a call for assistance, police encountered the unconscious individual and subsequently took him into custody on an unrelated matter. Despite efforts to revive him, the man passed away, prompting an investigation by the Independent Investigations Office of BC.
