Accident – Death – Obituary News : LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man accused of shooting and killing a woman at the MGM Grand in January has been identified as a previously convicted felon.

### Details of the Incident
On Jan. 29, Las Vegas police were called to the MGM Grand to perform a welfare check. Upon entering the room, they discovered Brittani Bailey, lying unresponsive on a bed with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Bailey was pronounced dead at the scene.

### Surveillance Footage
Upon reviewing MGM surveillance video, police identified a man, later identified as Dandre Owens, checking into the hotel. The footage showed Owens meeting Bailey at the elevator bay before entering a hotel room together.

At 9:48 p.m., Owens was seen leaving the room and subsequently leaving the MGM Grand to walk to the Tropicana Hotel. Police confirmed that no one else entered or exited the room until security officers arrived for the welfare check.

### Investigation and Arrest
Authorities used Lyft and Verizon data to track Owens’ movements, leading them to a rented vehicle abandoned in the northeast part of the valley. Surveillance at a home on Blake Avenue eventually led to Owens’ arrest as he got off an RTC bus.

During the arrest, officers discovered illegal firearms in Owens’ possession, including a firearm suppressor and a handgun magazine. Owens initially provided a fake New Jersey driver’s license but later revealed his true identity.

Owens, a previously convicted felon from South Carolina, faced six felony counts in 2017. Currently in custody at the Clark County Detention Center, Owens faces multiple charges including open murder, forgery, and theft.
