Sudden Passing of Mayor of Merton’s Attendant and Driver, Steve Vincent
The community of Merton is mourning the sudden passing of Steve Vincent, the long-serving attendant and driver for the Mayor of Merton. Steve dedicated over 20 years of his life to supporting the mayor’s office, assisting various mayors including Cllr Martin Whelton in 2008/9 and as Deputy Mayor in the current year.
Cllr Martin Whelton took to Twitter to express his sadness, stating, “Saddened at the sudden passing of the Mayor of Merton’s attendant and driver Steve Vincent. Supported the mayor’s office for over 20 years including myself as Mayor in 2008/9, and Deputy Mayor this year. My deepest condolences to his wife Carol and all his family. Rest in peace.”
Steve Vincent was a beloved member of the Merton community, known for his dedication, professionalism, and kindness. His sudden death has left many shocked and saddened, as he was a familiar face in the mayor’s office and at various community events.
