Man Faces Judge in Fatal Shooting Case in Northwest Miami-Dade

A South Florida man appeared before a Miami-Dade Circuit Judge in connection with the tragic fatal shooting of a longtime convenience store employee in Northwest Miami-Dade. Myron Hawkins faced the judge as police revealed newly released surveillance video capturing the suspect fleeing the scene of the crime.

Details of the Incident

The incident occurred at the Presi Stop, situated at the corner of Northwest 22nd Avenue and 92nd Street in Northwest Miami-Dade, just before 9 a.m. on a Wednesday. The victim, identified as 48-year-old Patrick Zamor, was inside the store conversing with a friend when an unknown individual entered the premises. Without any provocation, the suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim in the head.

Following the shooting, the gunman fled the scene, prompting a swift police response. Authorities set up a perimeter and launched a search for the suspect on the ground and from the air, with the help of vigilant area residents.

Arrest and Custody

Surveillance footage captured the suspect running behind a residence along the 1900 block of Northwest 91st Street. Subsequent video recordings showed officers combing the area in search of the perpetrator. Eventually, law enforcement officers located Hawkins one street over and took him into custody.

Court Proceedings and Bond Denial

During his court appearance before Judge Mindy S. Glazer, Hawkins was informed of the charges against him, which included one count of first-degree murder. A detective testified that the victim had been a longtime employee at the store, and Hawkins was a regular customer. Judge Glazer denied bond for the suspect, who was revealed to have been homeless at the time of the shooting.

Motive and Investigation

Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation into the tragic incident continues as the community mourns the loss of Patrick Zamor, a beloved member of the local neighbourhood.
