Tragic Accident in Gingoog City Claims the Life of Policeman

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the peaceful streets of Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, on the evening of Wednesday, February 28, 2024, resulting in the tragic death of a dedicated policeman.

The policeman, identified as Chief Master Sergeant Marlon Valdesco, hailed from Quezon, Bukidnon, and was stationed in Barangay Binakalan, Gingoog City. He served as the team leader of the Revitalized-Police Sa Barangay (R-PSB) under the 1001st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB).

According to reports, Valdesco met with a fatal accident when his issued firearm discharged accidentally, striking his left thigh and a vital organ. Despite the valiant efforts of his team members to rush him to the hospital, Valdesco succumbed to his injuries before reaching medical assistance.

The Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) expressed deep sorrow over the sudden loss of PCMS Marlon D Valdesco and extended their heartfelt condolences to his grieving family. In a statement, PRO-10 assured the bereaved family of their unwavering support and financial assistance during this challenging period.

“PRO 10 mourns the untimely passing of PCMS Marlon D Valdesco of 1001st Maneuver Company, RMFB 10, R-PSB Team Leader at Brgy. Binakalan, Samay, Gingoog City. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family during this difficult times. Rest assured, that they’ll received all the support and financial assistance needed as they navigate this painful journey,” the PRO-10 stated.
