A dramatic police pursuit unfolded in Franklin County, Alabama, leading to the arrest of a 29-year-old man from Michigan. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon on AL 24 near mile marker 31, sparking a high-speed chase that eventually came to an end in Lawrence County near AL 157.

Details of the Pursuit

The pursuit began when an ALEA trooper pulled over a Cadillac for speeding, only for the driver, identified as John Borelli of Chesterfield, Michigan, to flee the scene. The chase continued through Franklin County before finally concluding in Lawrence County with the assistance of the Moulton Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.

Incident Resolution

Despite the intensity of the pursuit, John Borelli was taken into custody without incident. A search of his vehicle by Special Agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigations uncovered a significant amount of illegal items, including $50,000 in cash, 12.5 pounds of marijuana, 121 dosage units of Liquid THC, three handguns, and one rifle.

Charges and Arrests

Following his arrest, John Borelli was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center and charged with drug trafficking, felony eluding, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, receiving stolen property – 2nd, reckless driving, and speeding. His passengers, Darius Braden of Detroit, Michigan, and Cor’tae Davidson of Rochester, Minnesota, were also arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
