Woman Arrested for Homicide in Jefferson County
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with a tragic homicide that took place in September. Daysha Nicole Bennett, aged 35, has been charged with the intentional murder of 51-year-old Anthony Dewain Word. The two individuals were known to each other, as revealed by investigators.
On the fateful day of September 10, 2023, deputies rushed to Dewey Heights Road in northeast Jefferson County following reports of gunshots fired around 3 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Anthony Dewain Word in the driveway of a residence. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Investigation Leads to Suspect
Following an extensive investigation, Daysha Nicole Bennett was identified as the prime suspect in the case. She has since been apprehended and is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
