A woman from Springfield has been charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on Sunday afternoon, resulting in one person being hospitalized. The incident took place at the Puff & Stuff store located on E. Division Street in Springfield, Missouri.

Details of the Incident

According to court records, 29-year-old Kathryn Todd has been charged with first-degree assault following the altercation at the convenience store. The altercation began when Todd entered the store to make several purchases and got into a heated argument with a man identified as Victim 1.

After purchasing her items, Todd threw a 12-ounce can of soda at Victim 1, hitting him in the neck/head area. The altercation escalated as both individuals left the store and continued arguing outside.

Security camera footage shows Todd going back to Victim 1 with raised fists, prompting the man to raise his fists in self-defense. Todd attempted to hit Victim 1 multiple times, but the man did not retaliate physically.

Violent Turn of Events

The situation took a violent turn when a man accompanying Todd in a pick-up truck intervened in the altercation. After a series of confrontations, Todd retrieved a slapjack from her truck, a club-like weapon with a flat piece of lead and a leather covering.

Security footage captured Todd swinging the slapjack at Victim 1, who responded by punching Todd in the face. Another man from the truck emerged with a gun, leading to a chaotic exchange of gunfire that resulted in one person being shot multiple times.

Prior Criminal Record

According to court records, Todd has a history of criminal charges, including third-degree domestic assault, drug paraphernalia possession, resisting arrest, assault, drug distribution, driving while intoxicated, and unlawful use of a weapon.

In a previous incident in 2022, Todd displayed a handgun during a dispute with her neighbor over a pet-related issue. These past encounters with law enforcement paint a troubling picture of Todd’s involvement in violent altercations.

The police investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing, and Todd remains in custody as the legal proceedings unfold.
