The small community of southern Alberta is mourning the loss of Dr. Scott Walburger, a beloved family man, business owner, and dedicated dentist who tragically lost his life in an avalanche in Castle Wildland Provincial Park over the weekend.

Dr. Walburger was the president and owner of Choice Dental Group, a well-known dental clinic with locations in Lethbridge, Crossings, and Medicine Hat. His company released a statement expressing their deep sorrow at the sudden passing of their esteemed colleague.

A Family Man and Leader

Described as a beacon of healing and education, Dr. Walburger not only provided exceptional dental care to his patients but also touched the lives of everyone around him. His commitment to his role as a husband and father was unparalleled, serving as an inspiration to all who knew him.

A Tragic Avalanche Incident

The avalanche that claimed Dr. Walburger’s life occurred at the head of Gardiner Creek in Castle Wildland Provincial Park. He was part of a group of people snowmobiling near Castle Mountain Resort when the Size 3 avalanche struck. Despite efforts to locate and rescue him, Dr. Walburger was tragically buried under the snow.

Search and Rescue teams worked tirelessly to recover his body the following day, but unfortunately, he was found to be deceased.
