Late Saturday night in Yuba County, a devastating incident occurred that resulted in the loss of a pedestrian’s life. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 10:55 p.m. on State Route 70.

Details of the Incident

A green Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by 61-year-old Frederick Bowerman of Oroville, was traveling northbound on State Route 70 at a speed of approximately 65 mph in the number two lane. Tragically, an unidentified pedestrian crossed into the path of the vehicle and was struck, sustaining fatal injuries.

The CHP has confirmed that alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the collision, and no arrests were made in connection with the incident.

Major Injuries in Sutter County Crash

On the same evening, another serious incident occurred in Sutter County involving a two-vehicle collision that resulted in major injuries. The collision took place around 5:40 p.m. on State Route 99, just south of Reed Road.

Delores Pizarro of Sacramento was driving a white Toyota Rav 4 in the northbound number one lane at an unknown speed. Simultaneously, a black Dodge Charger, driven by a Yuba City woman known only as Miranda, was traveling southbound in the number one lane.

As Pizarro approached Reed Road, her vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes, resulting in a collision with the Dodge Charger. Three individuals, including a Sutter man, sustained major injuries and were transported from the scene. A female passenger in the Dodge Charger suffered minor injuries.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, as investigations are ongoing.
