A night ride on a motorcycle turned fatal for two young men in Samut Songkhram province, as a 22-year-old lost his life in a tragic accident. The incident occurred on a dark, curve-ridden road in the Amphawa district, leaving his 27-year-old friend in a coma. The pair were returning from a visit to a friend’s house when the motorcycle skidded off the unlit Nam Lun Ton Lam Pan Road on the evening of February 25.
Rescue Efforts and Investigation
The Samut Songkhram rescue team and local police responded to the distressing scene, where they found the deceased young man with a broken neck and severe head injuries. The wreckage of their Honda Wave motorcycle, bearing the license plate number กง 6860 Phetchaburi, lay nearby, completely damaged from the crash. The injured 27-year-old suffered a broken left arm and multiple abrasions, and was rushed to Somdej Phra Phutthaloetla Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Unfamiliarity with the Road
Initial investigations revealed that both victims were Myanmar nationals, possibly indicating their unfamiliarity with the treacherous road. The motorcycle failed to negotiate a bend, causing the rider to lose control and resulting in the tragic accident. Law enforcement officials have launched an inquiry into the incident and are taking necessary legal actions.
Similar Incidents
This unfortunate event follows a similar incident earlier this month in Phuket, where a 33-year-old man lost his life in a motorcycle crash. The man, identified as Sutthisak, crashed his Honda Wave I motorcycle on a sharp curve near Wat Khatu in the Khatu district. Despite efforts by authorities, Sutthisak succumbed to fatal head injuries at the scene. Speed and loss of control are suspected to have caused the devastating crash.
