The Dharavi Police Rescue a Kidnapped Girl and Arrest a Suspect in Mumbai

In a recent incident in Mumbai, the Dharavi police successfully rescued a five-year-old girl who was kidnapped from the Dharavi area. The authorities also managed to arrest a suspect in connection with the crime. The arrested individual, identified as Razab Shabir Shah, a 32-year-old tailor from Vithalwadi in Kalyan, has been booked under the Pocso act and has been remanded to police custody.

According to the police report, the incident took place on Feb 20 when the girl was playing outside her house in Dharavi. Shah, under the influence of alcohol, took advantage of the situation and kidnapped her. He then took her to Vithalwadi and kept her in a friend’s room. The police were able to track Shah’s movements through CCTV footage from 90 feet road, Sion, and Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar railway station. Shah was seen boarding a train from Sion and alighting at Kalyan.

Senior inspector Raja Bidkar mentioned, “We received a call from the Kalyan police informing us that locals had brought a girl from Dharavi. We immediately went with her parents and successfully rescued her.” The young girl also informed the police that Shah had touched her inappropriately during the ordeal.
